Unfortunately I can't recommend this home. My mother stayed for 3 weeks in respite & we couldn't get her out soon enough. The nursing staff and doctor are friendly & caring. The admin staff maybe friendly but not on the ball. They pushed to have Mum made a permanent resident even after me explaining that would only happen if we couldn't find a place for her in Victoria at the end of her respite period. The smell of urine and poo hits you from the moment you walk in the front door. I don't know how the nursing staff can stand to work in that environment. Living interstate, I didn't have the chance to inspect this place before Mum was moved from hospital. There is no way I would have agreed to her staying here even for respite if I had. The food wasn't the best and the 'shared ensuite' means a jack & jill bathroom shared by 4 residents. Follow up - I returned in May to speak to the manager as was suggested in the response, the smell I mention above wasn't evident. Some hair products that Mum had left behind had been put aside for me to collect, but the new skirt I'd bought her had disappeared, even though I phoned them straight away from Victoria. They took my details 'in case' it was found, but I know someone had taken a fancy to it even with Mums name on it. I got the feeling the response to my review was only to placate social media sadly. I still wouldn't recommend this home.

Just had the most beautiful Christmas lunch with my nanny and family. Was so lovely, they really made an effort to make the residents enjoy time with there families and it was really appreciated 👏

Whilst placing a loved one in care can be emotional and distressing, the team at Caloundra Place Care Community set us at ease from our first walk through the door. They could not have been more kind, professional or welcoming to our Mum. Since placement we have watched our mother thrive in every way, medically, nutritionally, socially; she has made many new friends amongst staff and fellow clients and loves being part of the family atmosphere. The level of attention to every detail of her care has been personal and comprehensive, always delivered in a manner that demonstrates the staff's pride in working together to provide a compassionate environment. The time, patience and understanding offered to our family as we navigate this process has been comforting and reassuring that our Mum is in the very best of care.

I saw the respect that the residents were treated with and the fun activities they had. Nice place.

Thank you Opal for the incredible love and support you gave to my parents in the last weeks of Dad's life. It was absolutely the right place, the right time and the right people. If Dad's biggest complaint was that the porridge was never hot enough then we're happy that his passing was better than we could have asked. You treated Mum and Dad with enormous compassion and respect and I'll always be grateful.

Thank you Opal Team for your kindness and your continued support. You are all amazing, hard working people with a heart of gold. All the best, Leah Williams
