The Elderberry Index

The Elderberry Index is a weighted score from 1.00 to 5.00, computed when all four Australian Government Star Ratings sub-ratings are available. It uses the government's published weights but does not apply the compliance caps used in the official overall Star Rating. A home missing any required sub-rating in our data shows as “Not yet rated” and remains listed. At our 16 September 2026 refresh, 2,366 homes had an Index and 224 did not. The mean Index among scored homes was 3.81.

Where the data comes from

The directory identifies its service-list version as 30 June 2025. Every rating on the site comes from the Government's Star Ratings quarterly data extract for August 2026, published 7 August 2026, and each home records which extract row it was matched to. Earlier extracts are kept alongside it, so a home's rating history can be shown. Google review counts and photos, where shown, are separate from the Index. Independence

Elderberry does not accept payment for rankings, placement in tables, or Index scores; the ordering of every list on this site is determined by the data alone. Reviews from Google are republished unedited, including critical ones.
