Check Eligibility How the Index worksThe Elderberry Index is a 0–5 score computed for every rated home from the four sub-ratings the Australian Government publishes in its Star Ratings program, weighted by their official contributions. It is fully transparent: the same four public inputs, the same weights, for every home in the country.

A home with no published sub-ratings shows as “Not yet rated” rather than being scored or hidden. The national average across all 2,384 rated homes is 3.74.
Every figure on Elderberry traces to the Australian Government's GEN aged care data: the GEN Aged Care Service List (homes, addresses, resident places) and the quarterly GEN Star Ratings extract (the four sub-ratings above), currently the 30 June 2025 release. Google review counts and photos, where shown, come from each home's public Google listing and are labelled as such. Always confirm current details with My Aged Care on 1800 200 422 before making a decision.
Elderberry does not accept payment for rankings, placement in tables, or Index scores; the ordering of every list on this site is determined by the data alone. Reviews from Google are republished unedited, including critical ones.
